Charge him 20 dollars and a lap dance at your favourite strip club for it. That's a fair market price for a 4 year old computer.

Why be slave to market forces and what they dictate? But I digress.

As was said, eBay is going to give a more accurate representation and, unlike OEM PC brands, Macs hold their value rather better.

Or be a clever bean and take off the Gore options in easy mode. Or just put the option in for anymode. Adult and suck at it? Easy mode, tick Gore box. Child present? untick Gore box.

Rail shooters are just twich/reaction based games. They could totally remove blood and the game would still work. Hell if this game is just Point Blank with a Resident Evil/Zombie theming then it would still work.

 Resident Evil 4 isn't a rail shooter.

RE4 is one of my favorite games. I'm not sure I would buy it again just to use Wiimotes, they would have to add something extra.

after hours of frustration, i finally got it to restore with a custom .ispw. Noe im trying to figure out the tetheredboot part. Firstly, i don't seem to find the files located in the /dfu...at least not the ones i need, i've got 48 instead of 90. When i turn the ipad on i see cydia, but it crashes upon opening, this is a result of still being not tethered, right? Basically what i'm asking i guess is for some help with the last part of this process.

I couldn't take off Thursday or Friday from work last week, so I figured I'd have to start working on my phone over the weekend. I visited two local Apple stores and got on their reservation lists. After working late Monday night, I was in no shape to get just a bit of sleep and then get up and wait in line before work, but I dropped by an AT&T store on the way there just before 8 am. They were just finishing up getting the people left in line to order for shipment to their houses. I told the employee that it's the same thing available to me today from the web site, and went to work. A co-worker told me I should try calling the Seal Beach, CA store where he purchased his 3GS. I wasn't able to get a person on the phone until 9, but she told me that they had vouchers for a shipment coming via FedEx during the day sometime, and if I came by I could get one of the last few. I took a break and raced there, and was told they were out of 16gb but I could get a 32gb phone. I agreed and gave them my account info, and they gave me a receipt and told me my phone would be here today. I got a call about two hours later stating that it was in. I went back during my lunch break and purchased the phone without a problem. It was much easier than what my brother went through, which was waiting in line at an Apple store from 3:30 am until 6 pm before he got his 16gb phone. It sounds like he actually had fun in line, but I have to be happy with getting a phone so easily from a store within 5 days of release, even if it would have been a nice birthday gift to myself had I done what he did!

macbook air. may sound stupid, but as mentioned before we've gotten used to names and branding before as they make big marketing pushes.

with the air part, does nike air sound stupid? nike air max? nike air jordan? nike air (insert almost any name here)? i think there is a legitimate possibility for an apple product named with air in it

I'd have to go with Bungie before they died. It's somewhat odd to think about, but I really don't use many non-game applications that weren't made by Apple (Finder, TextEdit, Appleworks, Mail, Safari, iTunes, iCal, Calculator, XCode, and Terminal get me through most days). If I had to choose a serious application, it'd be Fire and whoever makes that.

Because they are using the illegal tethering issue to force people off grandfathered unlimited data plans. And to collect the legal tethering fees. You just put a block on there and they've got no leverage.

    "Handsfree"

In all seriousness though, I could see myself buying something a bit similar to this if it were dirt cheap and had the option of a kind of blackout cloth around it. Not for what you might imagine although I would use it in bed. The girlfriend goes to bed hours before I do. I often stay up much later or I might listen to an audiobook and sometimes I like to watch tv shows. It'd be nicer being able to do that in the bedroom. She hates any form of lights in the bedroom so it would need to be able to black out the rest of the world. I don't care how stupid I look if its in the dark after all.

Look, Apple is focused on having an Alti-Vec processor, everything has been written for that, now people say the new IBM Power PC based on Power4 might not be Alti-Vec so therefore Apple will not use them. If Apple is so worried about having Alti-Vec, then why in the hell would they be now going to an x86 from AMD. If Apple goes AMD or Intel it would have to be an x86 processor. That is what they build and they are not going to build a small number of some special high tech processor just for Apple, sorry IT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

Okay lets say you guys are right and Apple says...yep an AMD Athlon for our PowerMacs in Jan...then what do you do with the "i" and "e" series. Do you continue on with them as a PPC with Alti-Vec and make the PowerMacs with an x86 AMD? HOLY MOLY what a confusing thing. We then have Macs that are not even compatible with each other, you then have to make different software for different computers. What about all the PPC Macs that are out there right now. How long do companies have to make different software for all different types of machines? If Apple goes to AMD it would not be a PowerPC, and for now changing chip arc. would make for lots of confusion.

There is still something called AIM and PowerPC and this is where the future Apple processors will come from. Intel and AMD are not going to plug huge amounts of money into designing an all new chip that is completely compatible with PPC considering Apples market share. If Apple goes x86 then they might as well stick Windows XP on their machines and go head to head with the rest of the PC mess.

I have already tried moving files in and out of FileVault and creating empty disk images and deleting them but nothing has brought the optimization dialog back when I log out.
I do have a backup of my data (it's about two weeks old). It's on an external harddrive in Iceland (I'm on vacation in Germany now) and just a mirror of the disk before I turned FileVault on. I do not want to lose all the changes I made during the last two weeks, though - and I also can't clear the external harddrive for a new backup, since I had to delete many huge files on the Powerbook in order to turn FileVault on in the first place.

I also had to move my entire iTunes folder to my iPod - leaving me all without music (I deleted it on my Mac and cleaned my iPod before I manually copied the Music folder). I copied a few songs back from my iPod to my PB, though.

    I hate FileVault.

BERLIN Esther Bejarano says music helped keep her alive as a Jewish prisoner in Auschwitz and in the years that followed.

Now, 65 years after the liberation of the Nazi death camp, the 85-year-old has teamed up with the hip-hop band Microphone Mafia to spread her anti-racism message to German youth. "It's a clash of everything: age, culture, style," Bejarano, a petite lady with an amiable chuckle, told The Associated Press ahead of Auschwitz Liberation Day on Wednesday. "But we all love music and share a common goal: we're fighting against racism and discrimination."

In Shalom, the first track of the CD Bejarano and the Microphone Mafia released last year titled Per La Vita, the bands sing about longing for world peace. "My head is bowed, too many tears held back," the song goes. "Worried I look around and see what happens, I'm not their leitmotif, which is the base of their lives: Violence, hatred and death, because too many people remained silent."

The daughter of a Jewish cantor from Saarbruecken in western Germany, Bejarano grew up in a musical home studying piano until the Nazis came to power and tore her family apart. Bejarano was deported to Auschwitz, where she became a member of the girls' orchestra, playing the accordion every time trains full of Jews from across Europe arrived at the death camp. "We played with tears in our eyes," Bejarano remembered. "The new arrivals came in waving and applauding us, but we knew they would be taken directly to the gas chambers."

Bejarano survived, but her parents and sister Ruth were killed by the Nazis.

For the past 20 years Bejarano has played music mostly from the past Yiddish melodies, tunes from the ghetto and Jewish resistance songs with her children Edna and Yoram in a Hamburg-based band called Coincidence.

About two years ago, Kutlu Yurtseven, a Turkish immigrant rapper from the Cologne-based Microphone Mafia, got in touch with the band to see if they'd team up with them. "Our band wanted to do something against the growing racism and anti-Semitism in Germany," Yurtseven, 36, said in a phone interview Tuesday.

"Yoram told me that first of all he had to ask his mother Esther what she thought about a crossover project with a bunch of young rappers." Esther Bejarano, it turned out, thought hip-hop music "was really a bit too loud," but also said she saw it as a good way to reach out to Germany's youth.

"We want to keep the memories of the Holocaust alive, but at the same time look into the future and encourage young people to take a stand against new Nazis," said Bejarano. "I know what racism can lead to and the members of Microphone Mafia are immigrants and have experienced their share of discrimination as well."

Yurtseven, a Muslim, also sees a message of religious harmony. "All religions ask to love and respect others and that's what we do as well," Yurtseven said.

The crossover of modern hip-hop and traditional Jewish folklore turned out to be quite a hit. The rappers have mixed Jewish songs with stomping hip-hop beats and also created new lyrics for some of the songs that are more accessible for a younger audience.

Last summer, the two bands released Per La Vita and a documentary about the band that was initially scheduled for the Auschwitz liberation anniversary is now supposed to be ready later this year to be shown at high schools across Germany. The CD was released on a small, independent label and it was not clear how many copies were sold.

Currently, the troupe is touring through Germany. Their audiences range from teenage immigrants at metropolitan youth centers to a more established, older crowd that usually favors Bejarano's classic approach to music. "They all love it," said Bejarano. "Even some of the older guests sometimes climb on the chairs and dance."

Bejarano said it can be exhausting at her age to perform on stage with a bunch of youngsters but that she has found ways to adjust the shows to her needs. "I've educated the boys," Bejarano said with her trademark chuckle. "We've lowered the volume and I told them to stop jumping around on stage all the time."

For Yurtseven and his fellow band members, the fact that they are performing with an Auschwitz survivor has been a unique experience as well. "I once asked Esther how she can still make music after Auschwitz," he remembered. "And she said that if they had also taken away the music from her, she would have died."

What a cool collaboration and a great message. :)

Anyone aware of this story yet? Apparently some manager of a Chipotle branch ran over a cat, and then posted jokingly about it on Facebook. She also posted on Facebook about the stupidity of the customers at Chipotle.

Anyway, someone finds this online, and posts it to Chipotle's FB page. Within 24 hours, the entire situation explodes. Chipotle stumbles over itself posting numerous status updates, only bringing more attention to an issue that wouldn't have really been a big deal had they not said anything.

Needless to say, the entire thing is hilarious. There's even a fan page for the entire incident, with screenshots of the manager's original posts.

What's great is that there's now a fan page for this hilarious incident, and it's exploding!

You missed the real story -- in the release notes Apple explain that they're deprecating the Apple maintained version of Java:

    http://www.infoq.com/news/2010/10/apple-deprecates-java

Apple have provided a mechanism for installing 3rd party JDKs (in particular OpenJDK), but it likely won't work with current versions of Java IDEs (Netbeans, Eclipse etc) until they're updated to work with the new paths.

I wonder if this is anything to do with Oralce?

Most bi-OS folks use a native Windows backup as their primary line of defense and run that within Windows. (The W7 backup is fairly decent).

What we are talking about here is really imaging/cloning while booted to OS X, which can be useful in cases like the OPs where they may want to resize the Windows partition.

If you use Parallels or Fusion with a non-shared (Boot Camp) VM, they VM is just a file and gets backed up with your regular Mac OS X backups. The VM software alos allows you to make "snapshots" of the VM as another level of backup. You lose that ability in a shared Boot Camp/VM install of Windows.

So if you don't need full access to the hardware, stick with a VM-only install for the most flexibility.

    B

i run Maya, Nuke, and Adobe CS5 in Windows 7 Boot Camp, so i definitely need full access to the hardware. so if i am working in Windows via Boot Camp, i can backup my files with Windows Backup, but its not actually making a bootable copy/clone of Windows, right?

what i'm looking for is the ability to make a clone of my Boot Camp partition just like i do with my OSX partition. i'd like it so that if i had to replace the hard drive my Boot Camp partition is on, i can just copy the (clone/image/bootable backup) back to the new hard drive.

On your thinka bout Rapidweaver having bad reviews on the app store. I've had it for quite a while and have experianced no such bugs.. the only think is when u set up things u must read the manual. However, i can also recommend word press, and sandvox is a good program to.
