Hmmm, lots of people seem to assume that "Universal iOS+Mac Apps" means running an iPhone app in a window/emulator on your Mac.
That's not what I meant at all.
Look at Universal iPhone/iPad apps. Same app by the same developer but it presents a different interface for different devices. It also means that buying the app once lets you use it on multiple types of device. Why not let developers do the same thing with Mac apps? Many probably wouldn't want to but it wouldn't hurt to have the option.

I am pretty sure you won't be storing 2TB of your music with Apple for $20/yr.
Theoretically, if all that 2 TB's of music was purchased from iTunes, then the files all already exist in the iTunes servers and it would cost them no additional storage space to stream them back to you. So it may well be possible.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see what the official announcements are. I reserve any judgment until then.

Having looked at the numbers in more detail it is interesting that compared to the year ago quarter desktop sales are relatively static and pretty much all the growth in mac shipments is in the portable lines. Good to see Apple add 1bn to revenue anyhow.

They probably made a change to the app store to add items to the "list of supported devices" and the developer left his test string in there. The Mac app store and iTunes app store probably share that bit of code, hence the mention of "mac". Its most probably meaningless.

I have BT keyboard and mouse with my iMac and I love the tidyness of it. One cable that�s all. I have tried the MM in the shop and I thought it was nice to use, but from what I�ve read here it seems to be problems with the scroll ball. Guess my old mouse will do for now

Hum, you have no idea what Fiber channel is if you seriously claim that. Fiber channel is a networking protocol for storage essentially, Thunderbolt is a host based technology. Call me when Thunderbolt can be switched, redundant, do LUN provisioning and can be extended over a MAN to offer multi-site storage.

Thunderbolt is absolutely amazing and I think most people here aren't looking far enough ahead. A single connection that can handle massive bandwidth, is scalable in the future, can handle display as well as just data throughput, and can do this over long distances is good for more than just hard drives. Imagine a wall of displays with one cable. Imagine a stack of external processors. Imagine owning your own private data center!
Thunderbolt is faster than the hard drive today, but when one component gets faster it lets the others get faster too. Without a data bottleneck in the cable, there is now an incentive for drive makers to develop faster storage. If you can move this kind of data around, why not build cheap little add on processors? You could buy a laptop and then buy a couple external processors that would bump you up to 12 core tower speed while remaining cheap and portable.
Who cares if you have a bunch of USB stuff today. Think forward!

Great. But that doesnt mean that tablets and PMPs should be lumped with smartphones when you're comparing smartphone OS.
But there is no such thing as a 'smartphone OS' for iOS. The OS runs across three devices (four if you include AppleTV). Just like there's no laptop OS for Windows or Mac OS X.

and amazon is getting sued :D. aka, will start to charge customers more to recoup the costs.
Also, enjoy playing your amazon cloud on any apple device.
If there is one thing Amazon doesn't need to worry about - it's the lawyers, they got plenty of them!
Plus, even if they charge a bit more to recoup the costs - they have huge advantage in that a) they are already there and b) they aren't cloud n00bs with one freshly baked data center close only to the US :)

What does it take to be an analyst now? Just some 20-sided dice and a few key/buzz word decisions to make?
These guys throw out hundreds of the wild-ass predictions each year and just through sheer probability, someone is right. But they always pat each other on the back in each other's blogs with stuff like "Wow, White really nailed that one didn't he".
I was just thinking the same thing... how do I become an Analyst so I can 'come back from a Chinese trade-show' and make wild-ass predictions? (This particular analyst has 11 whole years of experience!)

Guaranteed it will look just like the iPad version, which I don't mind. I think iCal is probably one of my favorites apps on iPad.

I think Apple Marketing thinks they're slick with their blatant patent advertising/marketing to create buzz on potential new products. I think its fairly lame.
