lol just a lil ;) But how the hell could a 3 year old understand how to play the gane? It requires quite of bit of planning and thinking to avoid going bankrupt, especially if you put it in FULL mode where you gotta buy and sell stocks...
Agreed - it's probably just the teacher in me ;)

I'm a sucker for a good sunset shot, and I like the first here quit a bit. The colors and textures in the sky give it a good feel. It's a pity the sun is on the centerline, though. I tends to capture the eye because it is the brightest area of the photo. If it was a little off center I might like it even more.
The photo of the Cheetahs has a lot of potential. I like where they are placed in the frame, and the direction of their heads is a nice contrast to the flow of their bodies. Kind of moves right then left with their vision. I would like the colors of the grass to be a bit deeper. The exposure is a bit light for the shadows and that lets the sunlit area in the background go too bright.
The other two are nice vacation pics, but they don't stir me visually.
Dale
I agree with Dale on the cheetah photo. Try turning down the exposure and the greens should turn darker. Months ago when I first started utilizing this site (I, too, am new to this expanded hobby), Dale made the same suggestion on a forest picture I submitted and it made the world of difference. Now I look to set my exposure a minus 2/3's whenever I encounter greenery and it has worked out just fine. Welcome aboard, there is some serious talent as contributors to this site and plenty to learn!:)

This does look like iOS4 is turning into Apple's Vista. I've begun noticing odd quirks with my iPhone 4. Frequently, the screen refuses to shift into landscape or portrait mode when I turn it. The only thing that seems to fix the problem is a re-boot of the phone. Reception is still wonky. In the exact same location it will shift from 5 bars of 3G to 1 bar of EDGE, then 1 bar of 3G and then to 3 bars of EDGE. I've had several bizarre syncing problems when either iTunes or iPhoto reported simply, "An error has occurred."
When it works, it's great. But it certainly has been more finicky than my old 3G, which was rock-solid.

Can anyone make some recommendations of some good pieces of software to install when my PB G4 arrives? Are there any sites which still offer universal or PPC compiled binaries?
Thanks :)
Thanks :)

Just buy one now. Rumours are pointing towards a Q4 or Q1 2012 release. No point in waiting that long. The iPhone 4 is a great device, get the white one if you want to be different. :D

love the slider's look, feel, and protection but hate the weight it adds and that its not the easiest of cases to slide in and out of my pocket.
Anyone know any cases similar with a tight fit on the phone and protective enough like the slider but a little lighter?

Okay then, it seems like from what I'm hearing I'll go for the Elite. Not thrilled about it being black (I like white stuff, I guess), but I think the HDMI is worth it.
P.S. Does anybody have any idea when the 65nm chips will come out? Because I'm not planning to buy my Xbox until this summer, so I hope they have 65nm chips then.

No, but you could do a block copy restore of the install DVD to a small partition on either its drive, or an external HD connected to that machine.
If the 2nd machine is an Intel Mac, its drive will be partitioned using a GUID map. PPC Macs can't boot to a drive using that map - it must be APM. So, if the preceding is true, you will need an external drive partitioned using APM (in the Disk Utility "Partition" tab, click on "Options..." to set the map type).
To make the bootable copy on your other machine's HD (or external drive), run Disk Utility and create a small (10GB should be enough) partition formatted Mac OS Extended (also making sure to set APM as the partition map type). Then, use Restore to copy the DVD to that new partition, making sure to check "erase destination" (which enables block copy).
Start up your other (2nd) Mac using FireWire Target Disk mode (hold down 'T' at startup). Now, when you startup the iMac G4, hold down the 'option', then select the partition you cloned the DVD to on your other machine. You should be able to startup on it, and during install, select the iMac's HD as the install target.
Hope that's not too confusing - I mixed "other" and "2nd" when describing your not-iMac-with-working-DVD machine. The bottom line is to access a bootable partition on that machine that you can boot off of using that machine in Target Disk Mode, connected to the iMac via FireWire.
Or, find an external FireWire DVD drive for the iMac. :)
Wouldn't another option be to use the DVD drive from the 2nd mac in target disk mode, even if the 2nd mac is Intel?

Wasteland serves two main purposes. One, as an example to others. Two, so that people know where their threads have gone. It takes about five seconds to move a thread in there.
In many cases, deleting threads can make more work because the thread starter can often contact mods asking where their thread has disappeared to.

My wife and I are going to San Francisco in November. I thinking about taking the BART from SFO to downtown. Mainly I would avoid the hassle of driving downtown plus I would save on rental car costs and parking costs. Once we get downtown we won't really need a car.
How do people feel about BART?
Is it safe and reliable?
First off read this (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=149771) (first post). I personally have never seen that happen, but I feel you should be aware of that.
In my experience BART is fairly safe. Just don't leave things unattended; keep them under control at all times. Like always have your bag on your lap and a strap or something looping your arm just incase. I've taken my iPod on BART before and never had a problem; although I was a bit nervous at times. Since your only going from SFO to downtown SF it won't take that long to get there. Just got to be alert and just use common sense with certain things.
As far as reliability is concerned - well for the most part they're usually on time. But there have been occasions (more than once) were they were delayed, and that can be bad especially during the evening commute home when you want to get home.
But all in all, it's safe. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just use common sense: don't show anything valuable, keep that stuff in a pocket or bag. And just be alert in general. I mean I've even taken naps on BART and never really had a problem. And BART does have it's own police unit.
Hope that all makes sense. If not post back :)

What I find interesting in that graph is that about 20% of iPad users are getting another device because "other tablets became available." Does that mean they're going to get a cheaper competing device as a second unit?

A bit OT, does the camera connector work with iPhone 4?
Yes, but you are limited to very low powered devices, I believe it is 10 ma or less, in effect only the SD adaptor works, to use the USB adapter you must add a self powered hub.....

Store Manager was great. Team was great. They all chanted my name and gave me high fives when I walked in the store. It was really fun. I think I would do all of this again if I could. It was really really a great time.
