If I understand you correctly, you don't need a hack. Once you've highlighted the items you want to delete, hit Option-Shift-Delete. You will then get a requester which says something like, "Are you sure you want to permanently delete these items?" And away you go. :)

Anyone else remember those old rumors about how MS was buying VPC just to kill it off? I thought that was silly back then, but I'm wondering now. Considering how they sat on the thing for ages and never really did anything with it and now have caved at the first sign of competition, you have to wonder. They clearly were not very committed to keeping it going.
Not true, you just have to change your perspective. MS isn't interested in Virtual PC as a consumer product, as useful as it is; VPC as a power user tool is a well kept secret. They always had their eye on it for use in virtual servers. That's why it's going to be built into Vista Server and they are pushing it now as "Virtual Server 2005".
Sad to see Virtual PC go, both on the Mac and on the PC too (I run Red Hat on my Dell via VPC, very handy). Thank God a product like Parallels came along, and also that it also exists on the PC... I will have to make new virtual machines of my favorite operating systems one more time, but I do have to say Parallels is better than VPC.

Wonder how much they paid Connectix just to abandon it.
You do realize that Microsoft bought Connectix (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Connectix) out entirely. They're part of the Borg now. It's all Microsoft's decisions now...

Bill Gates' money is his own.
However, I imagine stalking elk past department store windows and stinking racks of beautiful rotting dresses and tuxedos on hangers; wearing leather clothes that will last me the rest of my life, and climbing the wrist-thick kudzu vines that wrap the Sears Tower. Jack and the beanstalk, I climb up through the dripping forest canopy and the air is so clean I can see tiny figures pounding corn and laying strips of venison to dry in the empty car pool lane of an abandoned superhighway stretching eight-lanes-wide and August-hot for a thousand miles.
(Yes, I would destroy society to save it).

The replacement hard drive is probably blank. You need to install Mac OS X onto the replacement drive before it can run. If you are sure there is a proper OS on the drive, hold down the Option key at boot and select the replacement drive if it appears.

I wrote this quick little hint about how to replace all of your "mailto" tags with a small bit of javascript. This is probably common knowledge to experts but for anyone who doesn't know, just trying to contribute to the anti spam cause!
Questions, comments, and feedback are VERY welcomed. I just built this site in the last 2 weeks all from scratch. If you find the article helpful, share it, blog it, link it, anything!

lol no I don't make money on this system, seems like the better option is B. I've already got a 64gb SATIII SSD, would that be enough for PS5 as well as lightroom?
It will be enough for the applications, PS CS5 takes a bit more than 1GB, LR takes about 100MB away.
But depending on the resolution and format (RAW or other) you take your photos in, and the amount of photos you take, 64GB might not be enough, unless you plan to use an external FW800 or USB 2.0 HDD.

Upgrading RAM is quite easy. I don't know about PNY branded RAM, but I have heard good things of Crucial and Kingston RAM, I myself use CnMemory RAM in my 2009 MBP.

Coolbook is the solution.
I had both an 11" ultimate and a 13" ultimate. I preferred the extra screen real estate so I wanted to keep the 13" .... but the fan noise bugged me.
Flash, running windows via VM, photo editing, moving large files all made my 13" roar. (For whatever reason the 11" ran much quieter doing the same tasks.)
I'd read some posts here about Coolbook, I was reluctant to try it ... as a last resort before deciding to give up the 13" I installed it, used the recommend settings found here in this forum and voila my 13" has ran much quieter and cooler since.
I can work in Windows for hours, no fan noise, watch Flash everything.
Very impressed, it allowed me to keep my 13"!
can you share what settings you're using in coolbook?
i'm about to install it on my 13 inch ultimate :)
thanks!

i was (a student) living at union square in nyc (~1.5 miles north of the towers). i strolled out of bed at probably 10 am or so. did my morning email check... a friend who didn't email me often had written "i see bad things happening in nyc... are you ok?" i thought he meant in general bad things like gangs and whatnot... it didn't click. i forget what caused me to put on the tv, but eventually i did and i was in shock. emails back and forth to family discussing the events and various news reports that came out ("bomb" in pentagon, etc)...
my roommate returned a bit later, having walked down the street to school earlier in the morning, seeing the towers as usual. and then on the way back, they were gone.
classes were cancelled for a week.
my then girlfriend's dad and brother worked in the general area, and both were not heard from until after 1 pm... it was scary. they both made it up to my girlfriend's dorm by foot (2 miles or so).
later that day my roommate and i went down to around canal st. which was as far as they'd let us walk. and took pictures of dust covered cars, ambulances filled with people, etc. nothing super dramatic (they didn't let us get close at all), but still.. just unreal.
the next day, the wind changed and started blowing north.... our lungs were filled with the smoke as our windows were opened, unprepared. to this day, i feel i have developed allergies (never had them prior) as a result of the pollution in nyc after the attack. and of course, the city declared it clean in relatively little time, killing and disabling rescue workers and others who were ill prepared to deal with it. sad
reading all these experiences one thing keeps coming up (and came up in news stories a ton of course) and that is the people who stayed home that day, or got in late that day, etc etc who were nearly there, and nearly possibly killed... and it makes me wonder if anyone else has considered how amazing it is (in a scary way) that the death toll was *only* ~3000 when on any given day more like 100,000 people are in the two towers....

That is correct. I've subscribed to their tethering plan but the personal hotspot item doesnt show up under settings/network. I'm guessing at this point that something about the jailbreak is suppressing this - or perhaps the mywi install?
If you are paying ATT for tethering, why do you have MyWi installed? You don't need both.
