The phone companies in the US are price fixing. It is plain as day. The small group of companies are setting prices and agreeing to make it difficult to unlock your phone.
The same situation with phone companies in France was exposed. It is clearly happening here. If we only had real investigative journalism in the US, we might expose it here too.
If there was real competition, this ridiculous text fee above phone and data for example would go away.

The government has the constitutional power to tax people. It's the price we all pay for living in this country. Freedom isn't free, right? Why is it that conservatives only seem to want pay that price in human blood?

Ive noticed youve been down for the last week :( Man that sucks :( that has to be hard. A lot of areas around me were also affected. My sister on the other side of town lost power for nearly 2 days when a big oak tree fell down on some power lines. Came close to their house. Just hope everyone is safe.
yeah it has not been fun. i had to take my family to my parents' place for the last 5-6 days. luckily none of my family was hurt, and we didn't have any damage.

Does your roommate use the same computer? Some DVD drives do not like certain dvd's. I've always used verbatim and have had no problems.

Funny thing, as I am running ZFS as we speak on my Mac Pro and several servers.

Also ZFS is returning big time for Mac OS X come June/July with a full up-to-date implementation of ZFS, called ZFS-410 by Ten's Complement LLC (http://tenscomplement.com/).
Didn't know of that one. How does it run? Any problems?
I'm always a little careful when it comes to third party things on OS X as you never know what Apple might do in their next OS update.
That being said, I'm running ZFS systems (BSD/Solaris) for years now and absolutely like the system, never on OS X, though.

In the UK we just pay whatever phone network your on �10 (~$16 USD) and they get Apple to activate/unlock it ;)

Huh - I've never wanted a pure color in the background, so I've never tried the "solid colors" option.
My assumption would be that the selections available are Apple's way of:
a) Discouraging people from making their background Windows Green.
b) Discouraging primary colors that might make passersby say "it is just a toy".
My recommendation - Photoshop is overkill. Open AppleWorks, make a square with no border (of any color you choose). SaveAs JPEG, change the color, SaveAs JPEG, change the color, SaveAs JPEG - and dump them all in a folder you create called "colors". Then you'll forever have a folder of swatches that you can view in the Desktop preference pane. A half hour of work, and you'll have exactly the ease of switching colors you were looking for.

I can help a bit. Plug the power cord into the Canon. Plug the mini USB into the Canon and full size USB into your Mac. Start iMovie. Turn the Canon on. Select playback mode on the Canon. Wait (things may take a while).

Anyway, last I heard the iPad 2 (4.3) exploit is still being worked with, and has not been packaged to be of any use to an end user yet.

take it easy on them, they saved apple's ass in the 90's. if it weren't for them apple would have gone 'rupt. they also have to worry about a thousand different hardware configurations whereas os x 10 has to worry about the mac line.. give 'em a break. (not an ms fanboy) :mad:

There is a space in the market for a new kind of gadget. I'll call it the jPod. That's j for "journal".
The jPod is the opposite of the iPod. The iPod mobilizes the sounds and images on your computer. You can take them with you for your own use or for others around you. The jPod captures the sounds and images from you and others around you and puts them on your computer.

So, if you were to buy Non-ECC ram you would have to get rid of the ECC ram that's already in your machine. This combined with the fact that error checking ram is preferable to non error checking ram, I would say just spend the extra money and get proper ECC ram. Also, it really isn't that much more expensive.

To be honest, I have my doubts about how many contacts Nick & Co have left. It doesn't take that far of a leap to come up with these conclusions without an Apple leak. In fact it takes a lot of common sense. The lack of a full consumer productivity app to replace Appleworks is a disgrace. Windows users are able to get light word processing, spreadsheet, database functions, and presentation functions from MS Works. iWork has more promise, but it's incomplete, costs extra, and with Pages the interface works much better with creative page layout type projects than it does word processing. So, what could be done to fix iWork? You need to make it complete with at least a spreadsheet app with a database being a definite plus. Apple dropped the ball in '06 so it has to come in '07. If it doesn't, someone really needs to be fired because it'll look like they're either clueless or incompetent. As for Pages, the easiest way to keep it as a good light page layout app, but make it a better word processor is to introduce some kind of mode. Click a tab and it transforms to a traditional word processor type interface.

No, actually I there's no confusion here. There's been an iTunes Phone Driver in the iPod updaters ever since the Motorola iTunes phone was introduced. Since iTunes now handles iPod updates, this is perfectly logical and a non-news item.
