In response to the ebay comment, why are they seemingly so dumb? I wanted to buy a new canon lens recently and i always buy my photography equipment from B&H (probably the most reputable place on the planet) but first i looked on ebay to see if i could get a used one for a lot less. None of the auctions went for significantly less than new at B&H (especially when you factor in shipping) and at least one auction ended of about $30 more than retail. I dont get it! Don't people do ANY research?

MacWorld, quarterly report and market in general. Expectations of MacWorld beyond reality and can't top iPhone. Quarterly report also not up to predictions, most of which were not from Apple. The rest was tracking the market, in general (compare today's chart for AAPL with the Dow).

sigh...Apple exports from China and imports to America. Just another reason not to buy AAPL.
Let's see...this was a discussion about stock prices, so I'll assume this is a discussion about creating value to share holders...
The issue isn't where something is made, it is where the profit is captured. China profits very little from producing the iPods for Apple. Frankly that is why ALL major US corporations produce product elsewhere. It improves their bottom line, which benefits the stock holders.
By being profitable, Apple ensure it has money to spend on R&D and new product development, all of which create US jobs.
And on a practical side, the last time I checked there were no credible supplies of MP3 players manufactured in the USA. In fact, a good deal of the music is from "foreign" bands. So I suppose we should all give up our MP3 players and music, because it would be good for the country, eh?
Bottom line, Apple's manufacturing/sourcing strategy is a positive reason to invest in it.

Do you have any certain settings set? Because I have a 2.16 MBP with 2GB of memory and it takes like 40 seconds to suspend and resume. I'm not getting anywhere near the few seconds you guys are talking about.

Highly unlike that Apple will release an actual tv. More probable are televsions from major manufacturers that have air play functionality built in.
This. I can see manufacturers adopting Airplay or eventually adopting something more sophisticated like actual software from apple to mimic that of the Apple TV

Really good to see the update (finally)... but I am disappointed they didn't bring the 24" back :(
The 27" is too big, and the resolution on the 21.5 is laughable for an upgrade of this magnitude.
The 21.5" is about the same size as the 24", just cut down to a 16:9 aspect ratio. (1920x1080 resolution instead of 1920x1200 on the old 24")
But the next iMac upgrade should be pretty amazing. (8-core base model?)
Not until Intel releases such a CPU.
Having gotten used to a 24" panel, it's hard to step down to a 21.5. Obviously, it's nice to step up to the 27", if one has the extra disposable income. The 16GB RAM is a nice reality option, especially if the default were 8GB.
I hope you don't consider getting the RAM as a BTO option directly from Apple since that would be just a waste of money. Get the 27" model and upgrade the RAM yourself.

Samsung's smartest course of action probably would have been to work with whatever terms Apple had been offering before legal action ensued.

What you are assuming is like Rolls Royce saying to GM, "Your new car design looks just like a Rolls Royce in so many ways a customer can't tell them apart. However if you'll give us "X" amount of money, We'll let you copy us."

The new features look pretty cool...but I generally think it's worth getting the upgrades just for fixes and optimizations.

i have a mighty mouse for my iMac, and i've never had a problem with the scroll ball "sticking" or recognizing right clicks. i like it a lot and i am quite psyched for this.

Is it even known yet exactly how this will work? The fact that Apple needed to make agreements with all of the labels makes this service look a little suspect to me. For example, would I be allowed to store my music that was ripped from a CD under a different label (one which Apple doesn't have an agreement?)
THIS is what my biggest worry with the new service is. I bought CDs since the day they were available and I collected many hundreds of them over the years. I legally digitized them all and store them on my harddrive. Those I would like to store in the cloud in addition the to the ones I purchased through iTunes.

what are you after then?
I want to be able to move several events to another day or time, and since there's no "shift event times" feature, I want to at least be able to cut and paste them and remain in their original calendar! This happens every time there is a change in a day's schedule where several events have to happen sequentially.
