Thunderbolt is absolutely amazing and I think most people here aren't looking far enough ahead. A single connection that can handle massive bandwidth, is scalable in the future, can handle display as well as just data throughput, and can do this over long distances is good for more than just hard drives. Imagine a wall of displays with one cable. Imagine a stack of external processors. Imagine owning your own private data center!

Without a data bottleneck in the cable, there is now an incentive for drive makers to develop faster storage. If you can move this kind of data around, why not build cheap little add on processors? You could buy a laptop and then buy a couple external processors that would bump you up to 12 core tower speed while remaining cheap and portable.
Who cares if you have a bunch of USB stuff today. Think forward!

Goes against Steve Jobs saying Lion was shipping this summer. What is your source ?
Until Apple says it's delayed, I'll believe Apple when they say it ships this summer.

I do not believe that Adobe, Microsoft and other big companies need just a few months to make their apps Lion-compatible. Will Apple release Lion, if major companies do not support it? Unlikely. Q1 2012 is more likely.

Microsoft's Vista EULA says:
4. USE WITH VIRTUALIZATION TECHNOLOGIES. You may not use the software installed on the licensed device within a virtual (or otherwise emulated) hardware system.
This means you can't use the *same* installation of Vista Home inside a virtualization technology on the "licensed device".
This DOES NOT mean you can't use it by itself in a virtualization product on any platform. If that instance of Vista is not installed anywhere else, there is no preexisting "licensed device".
The reason this is included in the EULA is because Vista Business and Ultimate actually include additional licenses specifically so the same license can be used to also run in a virtualization environment on the same device where Vista is already installed.

If apple got their dual-band world phone out a year earlier, for all carriers, it would have made a huge difference!!!! I can't believe apple is delaying the iPhone 5!!!!!!!!!!

USB3 is sucky as USB2, fast on sheet, slow in reality.
Thunderbolt is more like FireWire, fast as hell! You can target mode with thunderbolt, and future SSD external drives or raid will benefit a lot from Thunderbolt.
USB3 on Mac is useless, just need a Thunderbolt -> USB 3 adapter in case you need to plug an USB3 device and wanting native speed.

But the hulu plus service runs just fine (http://www.hulu.com/plus#devices) on the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. There is no technical reason why regular hulu can't run on your iOS device. It's a financial decision by hulu.

in the meantime, i'm thinking about putting a few video cards in my 2006 mac pro to fold with - since it's only getting like 3500 ppd running the smp client. i know i'll have to run windows to do the GPU2 client for now, but it might be worth it.
does anyone know if this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133304) card will work? and could i put 2 or 3 or 4 in there?

Here are the specs: iso 100, 120mm, 0 EV, f/5.6, 1/250.
EDIT: Not too bad! Obviously, the raw file looks better. I was photographing this squirrel who was about 15-20 feet away from me and he/she ran to me, stopped, posed, and ran away. :) The squirrel was super close to me, like 4 feet or so.

i bet a new is coming in June but apple doesn't want to see a sales drop off. anyone that asks me i tell them that expect a new one in June and don't buy the 4 since it's stone age tech by now

Sounds like a "who cares?" kind of thing, but that's actually kind of a big deal if it creates case fragmentation. Not good. Hopefully inaccurate.

Yeah, "accidentally," sure. :rolleyes: The price and the buttons on the app store are clearly labeled. You don't just "accidentally" purchase this. It's only believable if the kid is still an infant and randomly tap on stuff, but 11 year old?

I am a VZW customer who has been waiting for the iPhone 5 but my Droid original is about to die. I'm getting the white Iphone the minute it comes out with news of the latest IPhone 5 delay and because everyone has black. I can't wait anymore and will just sell the 4 on ebay for $400+ and buy the 5 outright (3GS still go for 300+ on ebay used). Plus I will lock into unlimited data for future LTE :)
