Finder:
- Have an address bar so I can copy and paste file locations. Really useful to a developer, especially with working between the Finder and Terminal.
- Have a way of seeing how much disk space directories and their children take up, both with number sizes and graphically.
- Stop freaking putting every downloaded file in the bottom right of my Desktop, on top of the last downloaded file. Put the icon anywhere else on the free half of my Desktop.
- If I empty the trash, I expect to see that volume's space taken or available value update right away for its icon, on the Desktop.
- Tabbed Finder windows?
And what about all the really simple things. Like if I select a bunch of files (eg: 8 photos), I want to be able to see the size (in Bytes) of the 8 photos I selected. Right now, Finder tells me that I have selected 8 files, but also tells me the total HD space remaining rather than the size of the 8 files.
Just some very simple things, Apple. PathFinder works so much better than Finder. Too bad it was so much slower than Finder.

While christoper might be a spam bot, that was actually a good picture, but a little small. Instead, here's a higher quality version of it:

So now that MR is being discussed heavily around the net you guys/gals decided to redesign the site, huh(?) :D....looks very nice :). And congrats on all the press you're getting. But you took away the voting option (that sucks) it was one of my favorite features of MR.

everybody is a critic.
Arn, the important thing is.... do you like it?
For me: As long as the information on the site is as consistant as it has been.. I'm happy!
You've got a great site. (period!) :)

It has a great selection for a price cheaper than most CDs.
Albeit at a lesser quality. But I agree with you.
I'm not claiming to speak for others, but I personally dont mind not being able to play my music on anything else, given there is nothing out there better than the iPod...
I really dont know what position to take on this :)

Note though that FAT drives have file size limits of 4 gigs - in other words, no one single file can be 4 gigs or larger meaning that some files will have to be split up.
SO, I've split up the large files, then saved as mp4, transferred, but once again, the ps3 did something to the file to shrink it from 3gb to 700mb...
WHAT is going on?
Please help

While you have them open in Preview, select all (Cmd + A), and go to the File->Print Selected... or something like that. Click the PDF button in the lower left hand corner of the print dialog.
lol. Not sure why I didn't think of this since I "print" using the PDF option all the time  Oh well. This should work.

Could you drop a URL ?
Here's (http://www.artists-first.net/) one if you're interested in selling music yourself. Mostly indie acts on there, linking from their own web pages. 320kbps MP3 is common.

I think Linux might have a higher install base than Mac....
I always laugh at these charts... it's like comparing the install base of Bentley to the install base of Toyota. Doesn't exactly tell the story, does it?

i did try setting compatibility mode in windows xp, it runs but its sort of buggy and crashes often, i would imagine it would be buggy under windows 7 too.
Parallels and vmware are too expensive for me, virtualbox is free but win98 runs very slowly and doesnt support guest additions, not to mention it crashes whenever vt-x is enabled
any other ideas? :)

I've used AnyBiz's software for PDF to Word and PDF to Power Point. Both programs have worked well and you can download them for free. I use the free versions which have some setting omitted like batch conversion but for what I need, it's no problem. Since you have a larger file, you may want to pay for the software. Either way, it's free to try. They have a PDF editor and PDF to iPad. Try it out. Lemme know if it works.

Yesterday I ordered my first MAC: MBP.
So im asking myself, if there will be maybe a "cheap" update solution to Leopard.
Some1?
Since Leopard won't be out until spring you will have to pay the full price. Apple is pretty stingy about giving discounts to their OS upgrades. If you had purchased you MBP a week before Leopards release you might have receive it for free.

See the AnandTech article or the referenced MacRumors thread. The Samsung drive appears about 15-20% faster in some of the benchmarks.
No, I meant the number of people who have one vs the the other, not the speed of the SSDs.

Wasn't even aware that they are still producing that thing or even investing in it. I never ever have seen a Zune - it was just like it never existed.
btw: do we have any real sales numbers of how many windows mobile 7 units where sold to real customers (not to the stores/providers/employees) ? I still haven't seen any windows mobile 7 phone in the wild .... makes me wonder if it will join the Kin and Zune soon?
whats a "Zune?"
It was to the iPod what the win mobile 7 is to the iPhone ....
This (http://thenextweb.com/microsoft/2011/02/08/zune-ate-apples-movie-sales-market-share-in-2010/) won't have Apple laughing.
yeah right, this huge success is probably the reason why they killed the Zune - not acceptable that a newer MS product is a success - or maybe you shouldn't believe MS sponsored stuff that claims that MS products are superior.

The shopping cart system I used for my wife's and my shop (A Trade For A Trade (http://www.atradeforatrade.com)) is OpenCart (http://www.opencart.com). I think it has the best code structure and admin panel design, so I also use when designing e-commerce shops for clients. In terms of your concerns:
1. OpenCart does have a template system, although it's not Smarty-based. It's pretty easy to learn though, as it's just HTML and PHP. Templates are uploaded via FTP and then you can switch between them via the admin.
2. OpenCart has many self-contained extensions, and some that require code edits. However, the recently-released vQmod (http://www.vqmod.com) system now allows for extensions that modify the code without actually modifying it. Extensions aren't installed through the admin like WordPress, but most well-written extensions are just upload-and-go.
I don't know if you'll find it the best fit, but that's my recommendation.

Just wondering other ppl's experience with Firefox 4 on the MBA, I still use 3.6.17 and it's been great except for the Flash/YouTube fan issue.
Does the upgrade fix the issue by any chance? Any reason why I should not upgrade?

Does anyone know what GPU you need to get resolution independence?
- Have an address bar so I can copy and paste file locations. Really useful to a developer, especially with working between the Finder and Terminal.
Drag-n-drop file/folder in terminal (you can drag icon in title bar too)
- Have a way of seeing how much disk space directories and their children take up, both with number sizes and graphically.
Info window? You won't have the graphical view, though.
Cool, at least now I'll be able to copy things from the Finder to the Terminal with your approach. Still won't work in reverse though.
The thing is that the size is around a six digit number, something that easily would fit in the existing Finder window, without needing another popup inspector window. Especially on small 1024x768 screens like my 12" iBook.
Web pages are NOT resolution independent for the most part.
Not disagreeing with you at all, but just thinking how sad this is. Anyone remember when HTML first came out, it was a language to describe the logical structure of a document, not really how to lay it out. The idea being that any browser on any platform or device could render it however. And here we are, where websites are made to fit only at 800x600 or 1024x768, and won't take advantage of larger resolution screens.
Yeah I don't think so. Unless you scale it to an exact multiple, it's going to look like crap.
Depends on the anti-aliasing algorithm. If it's done in hardware, then exact multiples shouldn't be an issue.
I'm with you all the way on this.
On the download, right-click yr desktop and click keep arranged by ...whatever you like... to prevent from the downloads stacking up eachother
Thank you, but I put my icons in specific places on my Desktop, so if I organised by name or anything, then it would jumble everything up.
