Looking at the 15" models. With the educational discount, is it worth an extra $500 for the 15" 2.33GHz, 2GB Ram, 256MB Graphics. The other model is 2.16GHz, 1GB Ram & 128MB Graphics.
I'm going for the extra video RAM, i know it doesn't help much but it is a crappy card and needs to last me at least 2 years. Good enough for WoW though!

having just gone insane as a mac newbie - i went all out and brought myself lots n lots of apple products this winter
IMO i will also skip the 1st gen - i'm quite old fashioned with TVs and would like to stick with my Samsung LED 9000 series

I have an iMac core duo going at it. She isn't much with her 1.83Ghz but it'll be at it 24h a day. It's about to complete it's first WU after 1day 19hours. It sounds a bit long to me compared to the times a say reading the thread, is this normal?
Keep in mind some of the people in this thread are using Mac Pros.
Which client are you using? Are both cores being used?

It definately did drop more than all the other stocks out there, i'm curious as well.
Maybe we were all hoping for...you know, some ACD updates, a tablet, more refreshes, etc >_>

Paying less is not good. If you are a true Apple believer, you want to pay as much as possible so you can high five when Apple has record profits. It's not about the consumer, it's what's best for Apple.
Wow some people here are incredibly close minded. Nothing comes good out of being dedicated to one brand, nothing. You don't get any perks from the company, you lose out on possible better competitor products, you lose money, you lose out on knowledge of other products, etc.
Furthermore you are dedicated to a brand that is currently one of the most unethical companies out there, the only other company that compares is Sony. Don't get me wrong, I love the iPod line and I love the iTunes software (even if its bloated, management is 2nd to none for music), but the company does some shady things to save a few bucks, and go to great lengths to give the brand a positive name in the media (which includes banning certain individuals from their events if their reviews aren't what apple likes..iLounge 3rd generation shuffle for instance).
BTW, Apple's primary profits come from hardware not the music store.
I hate how slow Apple's servers on iTunes have been for the last couple years, definitely gonna have a look into amazon's store.

The Mac Mini has HDMI out. Why on Earth would Apple not include HDMI on a television? Also, my Harmony remote has no problem mimicking the AppleTV remote. that and apple TV are the only ones. Not the PCs

If this patent is anything close to reality, Apple may be prepping something much bigger than an iPod, something closer to a full-featured OS X tablet computer. You'll be running a full-featured version of iTunes, not just the simplified UI of the iPod:

but who would want to have a full featured iTunes when you still haven't solved the problem of typing. The most efficient part for me is to type out what you're looking for. I do, however, see the advantage to making playlists more efficiently on the go, giving you the ability to shuffle anything you choose, not just "All Songs" which is a bother. :)

I'm holding off until WWDC to decide what route of "Mac conversion" I am going to be using. If Leopard has a built in Parallels type solution (which I believe it will), then I will absolutely begin my church's mac conversion in January.
I don't think it will have virtualization, especially with the way they are supporting Parallels solution itself. I think a dual-boot or a fast OS switching type of solution is much more likely. Somebody around here was suggesting "sleeping" one OS and starting another. That's almost good enough. Afterall Apple does not want you to use Windows, it only wants you to believe you could run Windows if you had to, in order to ease switcher anxiety.

Hmm, modal software. This used to be a very undesirable characteristic, a violation of the Mac interface guidelines. I don't see the problem with the way Pages handles layouts and word processing now. It sounds like Apple may be caving into the critics who want Pages to be more like Word. I hope not.

My favorite iPhone design was the first one. Bring back the aluminum and rounded sides. It's not comfortable to hold this iPhone 4 brick!

Without using iTunes & ATV, does anyone know of a product where you can wirelessly stream the media contents of any shared volume to the TV? I would imagine such a product would need a PC/Mac side client as well as a TV attached gizmo�like iTunes & ATV. I have both anyway, but I was wondering of different options.

I am currently using a hacked AppleTV running XBMC to stream movies from a SMB network share on my iMac.

Next time, I'd suggest you check the accuracy of the "source" you are trying to use to prove your point. The F700 wasn't shown in it was announced just after the iPhone and wasn't available until later in 2007...

It was possible to use the previous 27" as an external display for a MacBook. Can't see any mention of that after a brief scan, and it's a deal-breaker for me. Anyone spot such a feature?
