I think I have lost 7 -10k points from the 10th 11th and 12th instead of gaining ~60-70k pts. the 10th I had ~3420 the 11th was ~7200 and the 12th was ~3420. now it's ~3420, 0 and I think 0. Don't suppose it would do any good to complain since I don't have any "proof" of what happened.
Oh well it's just a "game" anyway :rolleyes: and as long as I'm doing something meaningfull that is what really counts anyway. I'm not smart enough to contribute to science myself so this is my way to add to our knowledge of the universe and life.
Anyway, happy Thanksgiving to everyone everywhere and may your points pile up.

The iPod (which started the whole dang thang) has only been OUT for five years and the iTunes Music Store for about three.
I think it is downright presumptous to predict 5 years down the pike just about anything when NOBODY could've predicted just what Apple would accomplish in such a period of time.

I don't know but is the Adware related to this:
Sometimes when I download videos from LimeWire, and run then it will bring up a browser window and open a site. Essentially an ad. Do this supposed hole cause this?
Apple definitely needs to get more serious about security. As more people start to buy Macs, more people will start to tinker and find holes. I hope Apple will rise to the challenge.

It'll be a pathetic excuse for a cloud if it'll only stream in the US (which if they continue with this 1 datacenter model will be the case). Amazon will beat them here, hands down. Have you seen how many datacenters they have?

Also, the point of the cloud is redundancy. What happens WHEN the 1 datacenter goes down (e.g power problems, network problems, natural disasters, etc)? Apple's will be wiped out in one move, Amazon just fail over to another DC location.

All I can say is, "Thank God." Near term I get rid of tons of cables -- I have seven attached to my MBP on my desktop right now (external monitor, FW800 for external drive, Ethernet, FW400 for scanner, USB for keyboard, USB for printer, and audio out to external speakers). Long-term it is possible Thunderbolt will enable changes we can't envision right now.
My only issue is the name "Thunderbolt" and the weird lightening bolt (that to date has always meant "touch this an you die from electrocution"). Light Peak was nearly perfect IMHO. Oh well, I'm guessing some committee group came up with this.
How are you going to reduce the number of cables? It seems like you would still need the same number of cables.

well i'm still happy with my core duo mbp. the three months i had it v.s. the supposed "39%" speed bump should even out by the time i need a new one.
side note: if i was crazy, could i put one of those dvd drives in my mbp also the new 200gb HD will it fit? anyone know?

Personally? I find it humorous that so many people on here refuse to use the app, or have big issues with it, all because of the faux leather look to the top bar, or other attempts to make the app look like its physical counterpart. If the app has the FUNCTIONALITY you need, that's what makes it good! I've come to expect that Apple will regularly revise the LOOK of these applications. Even if they had a look that 99.9% of users agreed was "perfect"? They'd revise it with the next major release of the app or OS, simply because they know people don't feel like they really "got enough for their money" if it doesn't look different at a quick glance....
The way it defaults to entering new appointments with that "unnamed appointment" heading drives me nuts too. Accidental taps on the iPhone or iPad can lead to those things being added to your schedule, and if you don't notice it until later? You're left wondering if it's supposed be a real appointment for something, or if it was just a screw-up. They should make it so if you don't actually fill something in, it cancels adding it.
Another feature I'd like to see? It needs a way to easily open up a list of your contacts from the Address Book inside a pane in iCal itself, and drag one over to the calendar to add an appointment with their address inserted as the "location", and name plus maybe phone number(s) in the title. Like many people, I use iCal to track appointments I have with clients, so this info usually needs to go into them.
I saw where someone wrote a fancy Applescript to accomplish this, but IMHO, that's still a "hack" for functionality Apple could/should include!
What I want to know is have they made iCal more usable? I'm not sure how I feel about looks but there are quite a few pet peeves I wish they'd address.

Not have it put in a unnamed appointment that I have to click at least two more times to actually get into a full edit screen. When I put in a new appointment of course I want it to say more than "new appointment!!!" I want to be able to name it and set a time and maybe even a reminder and tell it what calendar! What's worse is iCal used to work like this and for some reason some dipsh*t decided that some reason when I put in new appointment I just wanted to put in a new appointment at random time... what sense doe that make? (yes, this is a huge pet peeve of mine)
2. Reminders. First when I set a reminder for 2 days before, display on the appointment/task 2 days before, not how many minutes 2 days before equals.
Secondly, when it pops up the reminder and I want to tell it to remind me again, give me an option to set reminders. Or at least have more sensible ones (like give me a half a day later option, not just 1 hour or a full day. I want to be reminded later today, but not have to keep hitting one hour if I don't want a full day reminder).
Those are just the ones I can think of on top of my head, but they both annoy me a lot out of iCal (I really am not that picky. I'm sure people who want more out of their calendar/task app have a lot more things to nitpick about it cause iCal is pretty damned basic and really could use more functionality).

How many wifi models did they have? Particularly 32GB. My friend got out of line, wondering if he would have gotten one.
IIRC, the manager said that they only had 16GB WiFi. But I had already tuned out at that point since I was there for AT&T, so I may have misheard.

Oh please, get off your PC high horse for a second and come back to reality. Yeah, no one should get beat up and bullied. I'd also love for the world to be filled with rainbows and unicorns all the time too. However, if I walk around drunk in a bad part of town flashing a suitcase full of cash, well I shouldn't be shocked that I get robbed. I know people don't like to take personal responsibility for their actions these days and everyone's ready to sue someone else because nothing is ever their fault. It's not, actually. Every time a change in the phone comes out, the manufacturer has to make new cases to reach those new customers, necessitating new tools/molds/whatever (so more cost on their end). Any manufacturer would prefer that the same case worked for all iPhone4s because then they would only have to spend the manufacturing dollars once to reach a every iPhone4 customer. Plus, less confusion when people are buying cases.
So what you are telling me is: An iPhone 4 comes out and I buy a case. Incase makes $20. An iPhone 5 comes out the same size and I don't buy a case because I have an old one and Incase makes $0. How is that better for Incase exactly?
Manufacturing processes are the same for phone cases , candy bars, or screen prints on T-Shirts. The expense comes from the design and fabrication of the molds, not the manufacturing process. The "private" beta that's being circulated is a very old beta in the development stage. VMware has big plans, and is working closely with Apple to have a true Mac look and feel.
Things VMware Final version will do:
Be 100% Free
Support Adjusting how many processors you use.
64bit support and optimization
Drag and drop into the VM window (just try dragging a file off your desktop into the VM now)
***And full support to use your bootcamp volume. So you don't have to have two disks anymore or one for Virtual Machine, and another for bootcamp with full video accelerations. You can just run your bootcamp volume right inside of VMware for those times when you don't want to reboot, and just need to do work. That way you only have one copy of windows on your machine! No VM needed!
**Support for "Virtual Appliances" which VMware has a bunch of on their site. Until this speculation is confirmed and Apple reveal what their plans really are, I'll reserve judgement on whether this is value for money or not. But it wouldn't surprise me if they do charge something. To not charge would mean adverts, I'd rather pay a small premium, much like a do with Mobile Me than have adverts. Each to their own though.

There should be notification of the time limit you have when using the iTunes store app without having to enter your password, but I'm very sure it's not long though... Maybe if he had just an iPod this wouldn't have happened. Too many overly techy kids these days anyway.....

You can say you made the 8% prediction, but why don't you back it up with some proof? I can say that I predicted Apple would release software to dual boot an Intel Mac but without proof who would believe me?

I would be really disappointed to see a metal backing like iPod Touch has. My previous iPods from the past are so jacked up on the backside with scratches and dents. I know I'm not alone with this.
I'd prefer if the iPhone retained a glass backing like on the iPhone 4; I think it's just so sexy. But if they were going to move to metal I'd prefer an iPad-style backing.
