This is the important part:
Apple's iPhone 4 ranked as the top-selling mobile phone in the U.S. during the quarter, and perhaps most surprisingly, the iPhone 3GS took second place in the rankings. Despite essentially being a nearly two-year-old device . . .
That speaks volumes.
I noticed that 2 which must mean that Samsung and LG still ship a lot of Feature Phones as well in addition to their Android phones.
Still, we can surely expect this trend to continue where Smart Phones rise and Feature phones sunset.

The poster I replied to suggested that Apple could have split their contract so that both AT&T and Verizon would have the iPhone (meaning better overall service today). But in the end, that would mean less profit for Apple.
I was explaining that Apple would not have made an exclusive agreement had there been no extra money involved. That's my point.

A lot of people nowadays only have laptops. I could understand if you have a desktop that you want to come on all the time or is on 24/7.
I guess a laptop WOULD be different in that you take it with you when you leave the house, so what you are saying makes sense. I didn't think of that.
But again, the desktop is not really "on" 24/7 - mostly it's in sleep mode, or completely off when I'm in sleep mode. :D

At&t bumped my upgrade eligibility from 11/30/2011 to 6/30/2011.
I do a lot of business and have several activated lines with AT&T and Verizon. I purchase several new phones annually from each of them. I'm a true smartphone addict. :eek:
AT&T has revamped the way they calculate upgrade eligibility and time lines. They used to simply count the months you've been in contract and assign you a fixed date.
Recently all that has changed. Now they take into consideration how much you spend with them, how many lines you have, what your data plan and text msg plans are etc. They monitor this on an ongoing basis. As a result your upgrade date on your account is dynamic and will change periodically.
It may change frequently or just once or twice during your contract period. In my case what I like is I get upgrade pricing just about anytime I wish based on the fact I spend quite a bit to have several concurrently activated phones.

Actually apple often doesn't directly post changelogs for devs either. It's more a list of where they want you to test with many releases. They're kind of famous for that...

I actually hope it's moderately successful. Hopefully then, Apple will see fit to reduce their pricing schema on the iPods.
Realistically, it could go either way. Despite the debacle that is Windows, Microsoft has had a great deal of success with the XBox. I wouldn't be surprised if Zune isn't as bad as most members of MacRumors will make it out to be.

As an Apple fan, I'm glad to hear this. I'd love for iPhone to get on all 4 networks in the U.S. Apple's profits go up and millions more people get access to a great device. I would love to see iPhone 5 in September get released on all networks in the U.S. :apple:

Overall I'm impressed. I wasn't expecting a GPU bump (though an upgrade to a Geforce 7600GT would have been possible and nice for the 15" model). What surprises me is that even the base model has 1x1GB of RAM-and at least with my educational discount adding a second 1GB stick from Apple is cheaper than Crucial!
The large hard drive size is great too! And presumably this is the now-working Rev b.
But...the hard drive is still difficult to access, right? That's what's kept me from buying a Macbook Pro so far. Basically I'm parinoid about having to send it in for service with that drive in there. Obviously there's all kinds of personal info on a hard drive I don't want floating around out there.
That's what's stopping me from getting this.
If not for that, I just did the math, and this comes out to roughly $400 more than a Macbook, which isn't terrible.
(Guess I would want the non-glossy screen? I guess that looks like a normal desktop LCD?)

Sad thing is the developer is now going to be charged $300 (Apple requires the developer to reimburse the user Apple's commission).
I think that in case of accidental/erroneous purchases, this is not true.
If it was, that would be so awful that I wonder why no investigation has been aimed at this practice before.

Love what you were going for here. It's a fun technique to play with. The focus seems off on all the light trails. Nothing in the image is really sharp. Perhaps that's what you were going for, but these types of images do more for me when the lines/curves are in focus, or when selective focus is used to draw the eye to certain portions of the composition. Having everything out-of-focus weakens the image for me. Take this with a grain of salt though: abstracts sort of defy critique by their very nature.

Not surprising given that Gateway's market share numbers come directly from the extremely low margin, low end systems they are dumping on the market. In other words they have higher volumes but they are making next to nothing (for some nearly selling at a loss) in order to get those volumes.
...basically the stock market knows that Gateway is not a very safe bet...

Apple has much larger margins (as they don't sell $300 computers), so they can afford a small downturn in sales (which isn't happening now anyway).

So the reason apple charges more is because??? Seems like google is a better deal.
1. Professional conferences cost that much.
2. Apple sends 1000 of their engineers that you can talk with. Who is Google sending? How accessible are they?
3. WWDC is more days.
Number 2 above is one of the reasons that it would be difficult to move to a larger venue. It might accommodate more people, but the real value is getting to talk with Apple engineers and ask questions. If they made the venue larger, your chances of getting to talk with them becomes slim. It's a tough problem to solve.
