1) Have you not seen the comparison between the Samsung phone and the iPhone?
2) We even have sales people telling customers the Samsung phone is "like an iPhone"..
1) I own both.
They are rectangular and have icons on home screens.
There's only so much one can do with smart phone styling.
It's not like Apples on the verge of going out of business.

Listen, it's quite simple: For over 25 years Apple was a maker of almost exclusively personal computers and software. Five years ago, they introduced the iPod, followed by the music store (and now video, etc.). All of a sudden - within a period of only five years - iPod and music/video related sales account for almost half of their profit, and soon - by many estimates - will account for at least a full half (and possibly more).
Now, do you think that Apple considers the iPod and the iTunes Music Store a cash cow? Hmmm... :rolleyes:

I think it is as a whole, I just find it interesting that that desk tops are declining, Is this world wide or just for Apple and if it is just for Apple then they are doing something wrong in this part of their business.

Well Apple has used up all the "big cat" names like Tiger and Lion which means that either OS 11 is underway or they will be in the embarassing situation of having to use lesser cat names which imply "less".

Based on the verdict of the markets it would seem that Apple's potential is not so great...but you know better than that right ;)
When stocks are being discussed from now on, please remove yourself from the proceedings.
It was mostly the decline in iPod growth rate, but as someone said here, the market is just becoming saturated. You can thank Apple's insistence on using non user-replaceable batteries and such for sustaining some product momentum at least. You'll always have a good 10% (or so) of the market or so that replaces things ONLY when what they have ceases to work. This is where what I noted above begins to actually positively impact sales figures.
I'm just getting this weird feeling that the baseline will be about 100. I expect a mild resurgence in the next couple weeks, nowhere near 200 or anything, but at least a 10% jump. Then I look for it to tumble down, where I will hopefully pick up some more at around 100. Of course, no one should take my complete speculation as actual advice, this is just the gut feeling I'm getting from the stock right now.

You don't need Rosetta, iOS is Intel 64 native. You get a copy with Xcode called the Simulator.
Uh, no. iOS is certainly not x86 native. When you compile for the simulator, XCode compiles it against an x86 SDK. But when you compile to publish, its only compiled in ARM code.
So yeah, you can run the CODE on the simulator, but you can't run the published apps on it.

Sorry to burst everyone's bubble... but I don't believe this is a US phone. My iPhone 3gs has been on t-mobile for almost 2 years now... ...because that's the standard carrier in the Netherlands...
The +1 before the phone number definitely lends to the probability that it's intended for foreign use.
I can send a screenshot of both my and my gf's phones that clearly say: T-Mobile 3G on them... :D

If I ruled the world the person / people doing the beating would get a mandatory minimum 5 years in jail. The prison population would go up short term but the message would get across eventually. No getting out early for good behaviour either.

I'm not sure where you get the idea that Iran is "one of the most backward countries in the world", because in many ways it is not. The pronouncement that sex-changes were OK came from none other than Ayatollah Khomeini himself, several decades ago.

Here is my take on this.
Apple has this market wrapped up. People don't know what an MP3 player is, they know what an iPod is.
Those who love the Zune are hypocrites. Everyone hates the iPod. Why? Inferior everything. Plus you are locked into the iPod/iTunes/iTMS and can't do what you want with your music.
Now, MS is doing the same thing. And everyone praises it. They are pulling the same add campaign as Sandisk was. Conforming isn't cool, don't be a sheep. If everyone starts buying a Zune aren't you still a sheep if you buy it? Not to mention they are dumping PlaysForSure, the DRM they helped build, and screwing tons of people who have bought PFS music already. Not to mention screwing their partners.
The fact that the will buy you out of iTunes shows what kind of game they are playing. They don't care about consumers, all they care about is winning. All I can say is they are 5 years late to the ball game. Good luck.
