No one has it seems. There's reports of a few people running the beta, but it seems isolated. I think it was a release in name only. Hopefully we'll see something around MW in Jan? Who knows.

Has anyone been getting updates at all from VMware? I sent in my request for Discussion Forums (a while back), but haven't gotten access.

My 3G runs on Edge typically. I haven't had the same dropped call experience. Would the network make a major difference here?

Probably because of the difficulty of selling ipods to a world where everyone who can afford/wants them already has one!

I keep having the money to buy this but end up purchasing something else like Fall/Winter clothes LOL. A PS3 won't keep my warm in Boston.

Haven't had a camera since a Canon SD630 (no longer in my possession).

Eh I don't see it. I think it's a jump the shark move.

What are they going to do?

    Make an aluminum frame?

INclude a tiny aluminum remote with few buttons?

    Build the ATV inside?

Let you calibrate it and configure it from the computer?

    Video conferencing?

    Put nice speakers inside?

Give it a much higher resolution that doubles as a nice computer monitor?

I don't see this stuff as having a big market.

Or maybe they make your tv the computer also? BAsically an iMac. Maybe they release a 42" iMac for $3000.

Still sounds like jump the shark to me.

Well Google I/O conference sold out in 59 Minutes! (https://twitter.com/vicgundotra/status/34680121109516288#)

    The difference being:
    1. 1/3 the price at $450.
    2. Google gives all attendees an Android phone.
    3. A scalper bought a huge portion of the tickets to resell. Apple does not let you transfer tickets. You must check-in at the registration desk with government issued ID (4th year attending).

2 Mac Mini should still be very small

Imagine two Mac Mini back-to-back. That is how much desk-space the tower would consume. Now, it could be as high as four Mini's stacked on top of each other, so the volume would be eight times as much as the Mini has, but the actual space needed on the desktop would be just two Mini's worth.

Nies. I don't have a comparison, but he's acting like he did when he was a werewolf.
It's not much to go on, but he gave someone a temporary majority in the most nonchalant manner I can think of. It's just a pet theory, but it's the best I got for now.

I'm switching to Nies. It's better then a random vote for "Don't Panic".

Can you name a few more? I have only seen Sony support AAC on their PMP devices.

From my own experience the PS3 and the Nintendo DSi all read iTunes purchased music, albeit with some metadata weirdness.

Forgive my ignorance, but wasn't "Light Peak" supposed to be implemented via fiber optics for internal implementation?

if by "internal" you mean "inside the box," that seems unlikely. The main benefit of fiber optics is over distances greater than those inside a PC. Signals on PCB's travel at something like 25% of the speed of light (depending on dielectric), which may seem slow, but is very speedy compared to the long cables used to connect PCs to external peripherals.

I agree. I like MS strategy. They want to get their foot in the door and compete, then sell you all kinds of other ish. Look at the XBOX/XBOX 360, they may sell them at a loss, but with the Software, XBOX Live, and the Marketplace, they are making their money.
31,100,000,000 is alot of stamina too, I remember when m$oft got in the gaming console business there was a lot of this talk, now look at them, they sell the thing for a loss. Now imagine if they did that for the zune, a 60gb video capable for $150.00. Something to think about.........

Cool. Then in a couple months, when the new macbook air is released and its as thin, or thinner than the current model AND includes a backlit keyboard, you'll come back here and admit you were ignorant, right?

Thank you for writing exactly what I was thinking!

(Because I think space has nothing to do with it...they fit in the 'caps lock' led in the current model!)

Could it be a placeholder for an apple branded television that we heard about recently? I think it would be a given that said TV would have app capabilities.

    THIS IS DISGRACEFUL !!!!!!!!!

With AT&T being the cell phone carrier that charges the most, they should be EXPECTED to provide the best quality service in the industry. If AT&T thinks 30% of all calls being dropped is "normal," this is absolutely unacceptable! So this means that of every ten phone calls to 911, 3 being dropped is "normal" and acceptable????? And major corporations with thousands of employees are supposed to sign up for cell service with AT&T, knowing that 30% of all calls (with customers) being dropped is, in AT&T's eyes, acceptable????????

Wow, you really need to take a chill pill. 911 services dont work exactly like every other phone call. And the 30% is for the NYC metro area, which is has about 20 million other people within a few blocks making calls on their cells too, which creates quite a bit of confusion, signal wise. And lets not forget the buildings, and their makeup of steel/iron frames. And then all the WiFi signal that is being broadcasted around.

SO yeah there is quite a bit of a hurdle there, but what is even more interesting is what is Verizon, T-Mobile, etc acceptable rate of dropped calls for NYC area? Do you think any lower? Maybe next time you should think before you overreact, and then just not saying anything if it's anything like this?

    I hope so, but I won't say it's a given.

Supposedly, Bill Gates and other Microsoft top brass were obsessed with the decline of the big great corporations (IBM being one of the best examples). Yet Microsoft has been (arguably) slowly heading in that direction as it tends to stumble in markets where they can't exercise their monopolisitc power (as in anything not OS or Office related).

And Apple's quite familiar with monumental success and decline from past experience. So we'll see. But for once, the roles are reversed.

I dunno, the XBox seems to be doing pretty well, and I don't see how one could say that Microsoft had a monopolistic advantage there. All they really had was a brand name and mucho $$$ for marketing, and they managed to establish a foothold in the game industry.

Microsoft is very smart to leverage its successful XBox brand rather than its floundering (in terms of reputation, not profits) Windows brand.

I for one, am glad to see Microsoft push Apple. My biggest hope is that Apple introduces an iTunes subscription-to-go service. I tried the Microsoft-compatible ones (especially Rhapsody), and they were awesome.
