Brea had a good number of Verizon models and a few WiFi, but no AT&T. GSM models are obviously being saved for the international launch.

The two biggest complaint areas are NY and San Fran. I bet if you took any phone, on any network, and drove around town thru hills and valleys (San Fran) and steel/concrete structures (San Fran and NY), you would have the same drop rate.

Apple doesn't currently produce their own displays now why would they wade into the low-margin muck that is the display market?
As a lot of others have said licensing Airplay to display producers makes the most sense

Not to be nit-picky, but "death grip" was "Antennagate" -- what's the "etc" part you mean? It's like you wanted to create a list of Apple problems, so you mentioned the one biggee TWO DIFFERNT WAYS and then stuck on "etc" to make is seem like oddles and oddles of problems ... Something just happened in the stats, we got a big jump and many teams too. Yet I don't think this is the whole catch up as we still miss points as a team and I still miss a big unit...

i have a family plan with a 3G, 3GS and 2 cheapo phones. my wife and her parents came from Verizon. we live in NYC and no one ever complains about dropped calls. i've had a few from inside a converted factory building with very thick walls
the most dropped calls i have are to my mom in colorado who has t-mobile. those drop on a land line all the time as well

why do people buy the video ipod with its tiny screen when there are other, better, video players out there already?
I have one of these (http://www.cowonamerica.com/products/cowon/a2/) and its fantastic.
IMHO, both Apple and Microsoft will have to go some way to beat the COWON A2.

A) people use the iPod video for Music first, thats why its "iPod video" not the "Video iPod". The video feature is only a bonus.
B) you can use the iTMS with the iPod video
C) Its $120 more than the iPod
D) Who the hell is COWON?!? - It's sounds like one of those "Simpsons brands" like Sorny.
When the REAL Video iPod comes out, this will be a collectable* item like a Beta VCR.

Ive just noticed, they've brought back the Firewire 800 on the 15" models now.

It seems to me that Apple play games with their users, just a little bit.
Unless I'm mistaken, 1st gen MBP had 7200 HD option but no FW800.
This time the FW800 gets put back but the 7200 option is taken away, with the moral being "buy a 17" if you need both of these features">
I'm the same as one of the previous posters, for my audio app (Ableton Live) there's no way I'd splash that sort of cash on a MBP with a 5400 drive.
Oh well, if my PB gives up the ghost, I'll have to tgo for a 17" (which I don't wwant to do) or buy a PC. Failing that, Im a-waiting for Santa Rosa.

Well, I just had to wipe my hands to type this after eating my nachos, so i wouldn't mind not touching it, so I could still be eating....that being said..this is too weird...A bar rumor. I was out last weekend and a friend told me about a friend of his with an Apple powerbook prototype that he is testing that uses exactly that. It's a three dementional, no touching, control. I guess it works with sensors behind the screen and in between the keys on the keyboard. You can write in the air, move items, etc. I wish I can say it was first hand that I saw this, so you have to take it as it is...only a rumor...BUT it does fit into this thread.

I wouldn't delete it. Local storage is so cheap that you'd be almost foolish to not have a local physical backup.
Personally, I wouldn't store my music in the cloud. I would back it up and stream it from the cloud, but it wouldn't be my only copy. Call me paranoid, but I like backups.

Apple continues their model to suck most money out of their customers.
Example:
-Can't buy base 21.5'' with 6770M or 6970M.
-Can't buy base 27'' with 6970M.
Why does it always have to be that if you want a good graphics card, you must go for the top model, and thereby paying so much more than if you could just customize the base model with it?
Already know the answer, but let your defending excuses come.

Are people still thinking this is coming out next week? There haven't been any other updates since this story was released and I'm starting to doubt it's going to happen on Tuesday. I'd love to know what GPU the 27" is going to have.
I'm thinking the same thing. No new iMac news all week! Makes me think it's not coming tuesday. But who knows. Wish we'd get a spec list or something. I'm guessing it's not a huge overhaul of design. Just an innards update with sandy bridge and the latest desktop processors. Hopefully some muscle in the mobile video card options.
The upgrade that I would absolutely love is a dedicated ssd for OS and frequently used apps (like a 64 gb or 128 gb drive). And then a 1tb platter for storage.

Makes more sense to me that Apple would work to standardize AirPlay as a built-in feature of all new HDTV's, blu-ray players, and other set top boxes like Apple TV. In addition to AirPlay input to the HDTV, the HDTV would do AirPlay output from a TV connected webcam/microphone (if any). I don't see Apple trying to sell actual HDTVs, but the iPad would make a great SmartTV content controller that would replace the need for an Apple TV module.
The existing Apple TV could just evolve into an iOS app.

I'm running this with my Core 2 Duo and it's pretty sluggish. I don't what what's going on in the background but my browsers are slow and my 2TB hard drive get's accessed when I access things that aren't even relevant.
Also, is it me or is Time Machine extremely annoying in Lion?

Apple has in their favor the fact that many people now have ripped CDs and bought protected music in Apple formats. If that base is solid enough, Urge won't fly, and hence there won't be a large installed base of protected WMA files in search of a player. If a significant number of Vista users are just starting their collection, or building on existing MP3s, there is a very strong chance that they will do the easiest thing and buy protected WMA files from Urge. This could spell disaster for Apple, particularly if Microsoft is willing to replace any protected AAC files in people's collections free of charge.
Finally, while in the early days of online music sales, it was the players and not the music downloads that drove the market, we are inevitably going to find that the players become the razor and the downloadable music the blades. Microsoft will probably price their player based on that model.
