Gizmodo reports (http://gizmodo.com/5370493/apple-genius-bar-iphones-30-call-drop-is-normal-in-new-york) that one of its readers recently visited the Genius Bar at the SoHo Apple retail store (http://www.apple.com/retail/soho/) in New York City complaining that 30% of his attempted calls were being dropped, and was informed after testing that such performance was considered normal by AT&T's standards for the area. The reader provided Gizmodo with a copy of the Genius Bar work authorization form noting the technician's assessment of the situation.AT&T has acknowledged that it has struggled with service performance in areas of high iPhone density such as the New York City and San Francisco Bay areas, and has recently taken steps (http://www.macrumors.com/2009/09/02/atandt-announces-850-mhz-3g-coverage-improvements-in-new-york-city-and-other-markets/) to enhance 3G service in those and other markets.

if ATT admits that 30% of dropped calls is normal, it will be normal that they give discounts ?!?!?!?! they wouldnt think thats normal !!!! what a shame to have the best phone on the worst service operator ...

LOL. love all these posts.
Can I start a post thats about how Im anxiously awaiting the END of all these "when is the new iMac coming out" threads?
I really really want to get onto the next set of never ending threads that will go something like this:
"should I get the 21" X.XX Ghz i5 or the 27" X.XX Ghz i3?"
And then everyone will get to ask "what are you going to do with it?"
and then all of the "I love the large 27" screen" and of course "I had to return the 27" screen it was too big!" And the "more cores is better" or the silly goofball with the "I think a larger Ghz number means its faster".
and then we can move on to all of the "Is 4 gigs of ram enough or should I get more?" threads
Oh, and lets not forget all of the "I wish it had a larger drive/better video/more SSD options/matte screen/full sized bluetooth keyboard/USB 3/eSATA/24" option!!" posts. Those are my favorite. Wishing, LOL. You get what you get and you dont throw a fit?

The existing iPods already are lickable, though the 3rd gen controls are a little more convenient than the click wheel and button interfaces. Feel free to take my word on this, and if you feel the need to confirm, remember that it's probably rude in most places to lick someone else's iPod without asking nicely first.

It is know that apple has serval prototype iPhones. This is interesting at the least but seeing 3G at the top kinda sucks. We need a 4g faster device.

An apple branded tv? Perfect area for apples MO. Tvs are yearly updated, usually an incremental upgrade, good ones cost a arm and a leg, always using great adjectives to make a product standout.

It really doesn't make sense to me that Apple is changing the time frame of when the iPhone 5 will be released!
If anything they might release the product in September but they HAVE to announce it at WWDC just for a simple little reason: THE IPHONE IS APPLE'S BIGGEST SELLING PRODUCT AND WWDC IS APPLE'S LARGEST EVENT!
How would they not announce it then?
The sheer logic in this post makes me smile. There is no reason in the world for Apple NOT to introduce the new iPhone at WWDC...except for the possibility that they are disastrously behind in development. Which would be simply embarrassing.

If the tapered design is real, the mockup almost certainly has it upside down. The thickness and weight would be at the bottom, not at the top. Otherwise, it would be an ergonomic disaster.
Given that Topolosky's people couldn't figure that out (or their source told them their mockup was correct), it suggests that the source is not good or Topolosky's people can't interpret leaks worth a damn.

Wish I could get my taxes done, worked 3 jobs last year and only got my W2 for one of them :( didnt make much though...probably about 4k so maybe a $200 refund if that. Anyone have a guess? I always mark no dependencies or whatever so they take all the taxes out.

I think that black bezel stripe is IDENTICAL to the taskbar in VISTA. It looks good, but its too similar. eek!
They have been in iPhoto for ages. Its Vista robbing Apple again! ;)
One thing im not too keen on is the Safari loading icon. I think the loading bar in Tiger is much easier to see.
If you are working in another window you can see the bar shooting along (or not) the Safari window with out looking directly at it. If they keep this new one then you will have to 'actually look at it' to see where its at.
Some cynics will say im crazy but I think most of you guys know what i mean!

Hey twoodcc, You are putting up a boatload of wu's, 41 for today, that is impressive and loads of points too. When I get home tonight I'm ordering 2 psu's and another windows 7 so I can get all 4 of my gpu's folding.
I think I will add another 2 gpu's (to make 6) and forget about another whole machine for now, that 12 core mac pro (http://www.macrumors.com/2009/11/28/mac-pro-to-get-6-core-xeon-gulftown-processor-in-2010/)they are talking about on the front page looks mighty tempting to wait for.

That looks terrible, IMHO. The iPad look(s) make(s) more sense, because it's a metaphor on a physically mobile device that bears some relation to the metaphor. Desktop iCal isn't.
