I was there printing a paper this summer and they had this new stupid payment system for laser prints, it takes money out of a debit-style account (not bank related) everyone has. The Macs (15 iMacs in a room of 50 Dells) were not set up with the system, but I was told they would in the fall. I had to go run and get some paper to use with the printers the Macs were networked to.
Well, it's now fall. I came to the lab and found all the iMacs replaced with new Dells. There were a couple iMacs still there, but they were unhooked and turned with their screens facing the wall, crowded behind the Dells sitting in their places.
I bet the univeristy found they couldn't integrate the iMacs into their printing scheme easily and since bringing your own paper is much cheaper per sheet than paying 8 cents a page felt they had to remove the Macs.
So now I'm pissed. I used to work on papers at home and save them on my iDisk and access them for further editing and printing at school. But I can't access my iDisk from the PC's (they have network drive mapping locked up). Plus I'm just angry in general about them getting rid of all the Macs.
I was going to get a Powerbook when Tiger was released, but now I'm thinking of getting an old G3 iBook until then so I can still use a Mac on campus (Wi Fi all over the Union and libraries).

I think that local connection is what they used - cool stuff. Is that in MX 2004 or the newest version?
clayj - that works in the single flash object on your page - layers in the same main file. What local connection is doing is having two or more separate flash objects on a page among regular html text and images and communicating between them.
DActually, I'm not talking about layers in the same SWF file... I'm talking about many different SWF files (my site has over 600 of them) all sending messages at each other telling each other what to do.
Now, as far as that particular page goes, assuming that they're not loading all of the SWF files on top of a common "layer 0" SWF file like I am, then yes, the local connection thing would be the way to go.

I do tech work locally, full-time at SDSU. If you need some freelance/outsourced stuff, I'd be interested.
Also, there isn't a great forum for job announcements, so I moved it into community.

So use some of the 185 sources listed at the bottom of Apple's Wikipedia page.
Alternatively, ask what the point of this particular assignment is. Your class's assignments could all be done by your professor in about 5 minutes each; "History of [company]".
bingo. That is the correct way to use Wiki. While wiki can not be used as a source it is a great way to find sources for said project.

Congrats - I just did the same. I am hoping as well that everything works fine and that there are no issues with quality or something else.
Cheers

I can't believe AT&T still won't unlock iPhones: In the UK, O2 will unlock anyone's contract phone for free (you just need to ask), and a PAYG one for 15 (plus the loss of the free web bolt on you get for the first 12 months).

Yeah, that's weird. I don't suppose it's an external drive or something else attached to the Mac. My iMac makes no noise when it's off. :o

Whenever I would plug in my iPod Video, iTunes would become unresponsive and I would get the beachball. I'm running iTunes 10.1.2. I have a 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook. For some reason I feel like I've had this problem before but I don't remember how I fixed it.

Similar for me... I spent about four years with Sprint and now about three with T-Mo. I've been happier with the latter, although I was close to switching to Verizon or Cingular. And we've done that thread a thousand times...
Ditto here. I was a longtime Verizon Wireless customer (3 or 4 years), was with AT&T Wireless briefly, and now I've been going on 5 years with T-Mobile. Of those, I've been most satisfied with T-Mobile. In NYC, Verizon does have better coverage, but their customer service is atrocious, and the phone selection will always be worse since they're CDMA.
...but I would be happy with either T-Mobile or Cingular for the iPhone. I'm happy to stay with T-Mobile, but wouldn't mind switching to Cingular's rollover minutes. Plus it sounds like Cingular is well ahead of T-Mobile in terms of rolling out 3G/4G level broadband.

And then the IT guy inside of me wants to know if you tried restarting your computer yet?

All that needs to be done is to have the Macs that are not part of the "original" all-in-one series (128k, 512k, Plus, etc.) moved up in the heirarchy so we have
68k Desktops
Original (I'd include the SE, SE/30 and various Classics in here as well)
Macintosh II
LC series
Mac TV

What I don't understand is there is a perfectly good 4.3.0 exploit for the iPad 2. Why the hell can't comex simply release it for those of us who didn't upgrade?
I agree! I'm still running 4.3.0!

I still can't believe you lot in the USA have gone for yet another incompatible-with-the-rest-of-the-world frequency for your 3G network meaning that anyone coming to the USA won't be able to use your 3G network and your 3G iPhones will be about as useful as a one legged dog outside the USA.
It's interesting that the T-Mobile guy thinks that the prime use for 3G in the USA will be email and other user generated content and not music though. Personally the last thing I want is content rich email on my mobile phone.

There are no photos yet..but afterdawn.com has reported that Toshiba will release a5GB Bluetooth HDD (http://www.afterdawn.com/news/archive/3440.cfm) ideally for PDA's, but that dosen't that the iPod should be left out... because it sports the same drive from Toshiba!!!
Even thou it states that "Toshiba doesn't have currently plans to sell the drive outside Japan" doesn't mean that we can't have hope!!;)
