Did anyone else buy a new song? It seemed to me that when I picked up the new Bare Naked Ladies album it downloaded a lot faster and multiple songs at a time now.
Yeah, I downloaded a Murder City Devils song and I too, noticed that it downloaded the song rapidly (I accidently bought the song twice...don't know how:mad: ).
I also noticed song previews run much faster then before.

By your estimate, that's less than one tenth of one percent (<0.1%) of Apple's profits. Hardly a cash cow. Even if you underestimated by a full magnitude, it's not that impressive.
$1.8 mil/year may seem like alot to you or me that makes less than $50k/year, but to a company that does over $15,000,000,000.00 in sales a year it's little more than a drop in the bucket.

Further to my point it has been acknowledged by Jobs and his critics that the reason the iPod is a huge is because it is part of a complete system. Loose iTunes and you loose the dominance of the iPod, just ask the folks at Creative. Pennies on the dollar, or dimes on the dollar, iTunes is a big business supporting a much bigger business. Remember before iTunes and the iPod you could not shut the Apple doom sayers up and Apple stock was something someone making $50K a year could buy without dipping into the savings account. Apple wasn't a player in the personal electronics business either.

I have recently acquired a PowerBook Duo 280c with an Apple Mini Dock, a Micro Dock and a floppy drive. I also have an AsanteTalk, which acts as a physical bridge between RJ45 ethernet and LocalTalk networks. It's running Mac OS 7.6.1.

Playing subtitles on an iPod means hardcoding the subs onto the media file. There are some applications that make this possible and HandBrake (http://handbrake.fr/) immediately comes to mind. This is weird...I've been using Google's DNS servers basically - which are considered as the fastest in my area - does that really affect Apple downloads?
I don't know whether it affects Apple or not but I remember reading about it here in NZ where people were being directed to US servers instead of NZ ones. The speed difference between our domestic and international bandwidth is huge.

Have you tried deleting redsn0w and downloading it again? maybe it's the file. I had a similar problem and replacing the .exe file fixed it for me.

Searching for a used MacBook with CS5 MS already installed (they are out there, but I semi question the legitimacy of some as they have no media included, just preinstalled), and I am starting to also question on whether finding one with CS5 is really important if my main purpose is to learn Xcode, write iPad apps, and teach my oldest girl how to do the same. For those of you with CS5, how useful is it for App creation? What other applications should I be looking at with those goals? I have found I can get a decent 2.4ghz dual core with 4GB ram plus HD for around $400 (without CS5). Thanks!
You don't need the Master Suite at all. There might be an argument for getting Photoshop and Illustrator but anything else is a complete waste of time.
Having said that if you ever plan on branching out into web development the Master Suite becomes more useful (although personally I'd go with Web Premium in that case).

I'm always a little careful when it comes to third party things on OS X as you never know what Apple might do in their next OS update.
That being said, I'm running ZFS systems (BSD/Solaris) for years now and absolutely like the system, never on OS X, though.
It runs on an old but stable release based on onnv_74, which provides zpool version 8 and zfs version 2, so it doesn't include RAID-Z2, RAID-Z3 or any of the newer functions, which is why I am very interested in Ten's Complements up-to-date version. It's an external kext, so it shouldn't suffer from anything when Apple updates Mac OS X.
It's solid in my experience and there have not been a single case of lost data in the project's history (knock on wood) :)

Why don't you just split the audio with a Y adapter so that you don't have to switch it. It will just always be active. This to me seems like a cheaper and better solution.

One of my many goals (that I'll probably never get the chance to finish) is to make an all-in-one console mod. All-in-one computers have gotten big, but the fact that gaming consoles have remained headless is interesting to me.
I've always thrown around the idea of an Xbox or the tray loading PS2 in a G4, but those probably aren't realistic. Jberg44 (http://forums.macrumors.com/member.php?u=368100) (Dremel Junkie (http://dremmeljunkie.blogspot.com/)) put the idea out there to use a GameCube.
My first reaction was to stick that in an Apple Cube to make an AppleGameCube. :cool:
